Bajiquan Instruction

八极拳法传授

The Baji that I taught was not the traditional Baji but more of a modern & combative version of the Baji that I learned from my Teachers. My belief is that traditional kungfu training is lacking in some areas, especially in physical conditioning, sparring & general fitness building. Thus I always recommend implementing kickboxing training into any kungfu curriculum. Here are the training syllables that I offered to my students:

    1. Running
    2. Warm-ups
    3. Skipping
    4. Push-ups, Sit-ups & Squats
    5. Baji Stance Training (stationary)
    6. Baji Stomping (stationary)
    7. Bear Step
    8. Tiger Step
    9. Grinding Step
    10. Single Technique/ Combination/ Form Practice
    11. Application of Technique
    12. Pad Striking/ Kicking
    13. Controlled to Free Sparring (only at advanced level)

The Forms can be divided into 2, the Baji Big & Small Form. Of these 2 forms there are more than 32 single techniques to master & to combine together. Then there are the 2 weapon forms (staff & sword) which wouldn't be touched on till the unarmed forms are completed. It is a very comprehensive style that uses the whole body for striking, kicking, throwing & weapon usage. It is not easy training; it takes determination as well as talent to fully grasp the true wonder of kungfu. Although I no longer teach now, those still interested in learning through instructional VCDs can email me here to find out more.
